Description

This lovely full size violin for sale was handmade in Markneukirchen, GERMANY sometime around 1880.  Very little is known about this violin’s specific history; however, an almost identical violin was auctioned in 2004.  It is labeled and styled as a Guarneri copy; it also has a lyre stamp at the neck juncture.  It is very well made.  This German Lyre Violin has a highly flamed one piece back, a nice oil varnish, and is completed with fine rosewood fittings.  It is very slightly shorter than an average full size violin; the body length is 355mm.  The tone of this violin is big and rich; it does not lack in any fullness the way many German violins do.  It is in excellent condition; the only repair made is to the f-hole.  It appears that the f-hole corner cracked off at one point and has been solidly and nicely reattached with a cleat.

Priced at $8250.00, this violin would be excellent for any advanced player, but a small player would be especially happy.
