Description

This nice full size violin for sale was made in the Dresden, GERMANY workshop of Alfred Moritz in 1890.  Moritz made upgraded Excelsior instruments, and this one is a standard Moritz Excelsior Violin.  It was made for and imported by Joseph Bohmann of Chicago.  Bohmann himself was known for engaging in bad business practices, such as label swapping, but this violin is what it states.  This Excelsior violin itself has a nice yellow varnish and good wood; the Imperial model label is stamped on the back.  The violin sounds German; it is bold and projects well.  The whole ranges of notes is strong.  This violin has a minor saddle crack repair as well as a top crack repair on the lower right and an f-hole crack repair.  These repairs are all minor and do not adversely affect the sound of this violin.

Priced at $2700.00, an advancing high school student would be quite happy and excel with this Excelsior violin.
