German 4/4 1746 Johann-Georg Bernhard Handmade Violin
$10,250.00
German 4/4 violin made in 1746 by Johann-Georg Bernhard. This violin is lovely and a rare find as well.
Description
This very old full size violin for sale is a genuine Johann-Georg Bernhard violin. Bernhard made this violin in Biberbach, GERMANY in 1746. It is quite a rare find, as there were only 10 such violins ever made. While is true that Henley has negative comments about Bernhard’s violins including that “the belly-wood of his violins is a damaging to the sound as the plague is to humans”, we feel that this description, while hilarious, is a bit exaggerated. This Bernhard Violin actually has a nice, deep and rich sound and is pretty well made with a nice orange-brown oil varnish. It has an exceptional scroll, which even Henley was forced to recognize. This Bernhard has multiple repaired top cracks, but nothing that will devalue the instrument.
Priced at $10250.00, an advanced violinist looking for an older instrument or a collector of rare instruments would love this violin.
