German 15 & 1/2″ Jacobus Hornsteiner Strad copy viola imported by Scherl and Roth in 1964. Viola is in excellent condition and has a nice sound.
Description
This 15 & 1/2 inch viola for sale was imported from a German factory by Scherl and Roth in 1964. It is labeled “Jacobus Hornsteiner” and is a hand made Stradivarius reproduction, model E 29. It is higher quality instrument than all non-Strad model Hornsteiners. It has a rosewood chin rest and pegs. This 15 & 1/2″ Jacobus Hornsteiner Viola is nicely carved and the back has nicely flamed wood. There is a bit of wear evident on this viola, but the viola has had no significant repairs. The sound is projects well for a viola, but at the same time it is dark and rich.
For $2700, this viola would be an excellent instrument for a younger player how is advancing quite quickly or for a smaller adult.
