French 4/4 1928 Lyon and Healy 9101 Maggini Copy Violin

This full size Maggini Copy Violin for sale is quite a nice violin!  It was made in France in 1928 and was imported by the Chicago based Lyon and Healy Company.  It is model number 9101 (a substantially upgraded instrument model) and is styled after the Paolo Maggini violin.  This 9101 Lyon and Healy Violin is in excellent condition; it has no repaired cracks and only minor signs of wear.  The wood is quite good; the back is nicely flamed and the top would has a tight grain.  The varnish on this instrument has a typical french look and yellowy-orange color.  There is black piping around the scroll.  The fittings are an attractive rosewood.  The violin has a somewhat darker sound than many French instruments, but it is very sweet, rich, and lovely to listen to.  For $4000.00, this violin will be an excellent and reliable instrument for a advanced high school student.
