French 4/4 1915 JTL “F Breton” Violin

$6,250.00

French 4/4 F Breton violin made by JTL c 1915.  Violin is excellently crafted and has needed no repairs over the years.

Description

While this fine, full-size violin for sale is labeled F Breton Brevete, it was actually made circa 1915 by the Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy factory in Mirecort, FRANCE for Whaley, Royce and Co. of Canada.  JTL frequently used the F Breton label on nicer violins once the label became part of the public domain 40 years after the real F. Breton’s death.  This Breton is in excellent condition with no repairs.  The Breton Violin is very fine as the corners are exquisitely carved, and the violin has a beautiful red oil varnish.  The tone of the violin is bright and ringing; it is very full sounding for a French violin.  The Breton projects well and would be a good solo instrument.

For $6250.00, this Breton violin will play and sing excellently in the hands of the advanced violinist.
