American 4/4 1930 August William Reitz Violin

This pretty, full size violin for sale was made in the United States by violin maker August William Reitz.  Reitz was German born (and presumably trained), and moved to the United States to make instruments.  This particular Reitz Violin was made during his sojourn in Chicago, around the 1930’s.  He did not make many violins while living in Chicago, so this violin is quite rare!  It has the typically lovely golden yellow oil varnish that Reitz is known for using.  It has a nice one piece back that has a good flame and tight curl.  This Reitz has no history of repairs. This instrument has a somewhat German sound to it; the violin projects well and has a relatively bright sound.
