German 4/4 1950 William Lewis & Son Ton-Klar “The David” Violin

$1,450.00

German 4/4 Ton-Klar “The David” violin, made in 1950’s and imported by William Lewis and Son.  This violin is in excellent shape and will make a lovely violin.

Description

This full size violin for sale was made in the 1950’s in a German factory and imported to the United States by the Chicago based William Lewis and Son importers.  It is a popular Ton-Klar (or “Clear-Tone”) violin, and happily it is “The David” model, rather than the ubiquitous “Dancla” model.  The David was the nicest Ton-Klar model imported by William Lewis and Son, and this is a standard David.  This particular Ton-Klar David Violin has a lovely yellow varnish, very decent construction, and a brightly ringing and projecting sound.  It has one minor top crack that is repaired and secure.

Priced at $1450.00, this David will make a good violin for a serious student who is looking to advance beyond beginner violins.
