German 4/4 violin made by August Kampffens c 1840. Violin has been well maintained and needed very little work.
Description
This full size German instrument for sale is very old and quite a collector’s item. It is labeled August I Kampffens, and it was made around 1840. It does not have a grafted neck, making it among the very earliest non-grafted violins. It also does not have bushed pegs. The violin is in very good condition; there is a repaired top crack on the lower left side as well as two small repaired f hole cracks. The Kampffens Violin has a nice brown oil varnish and an attractive one piece back with good flame. The sound is moderate in brightness yet rings nicely.
Priced at $4200.00, this violin would make a good violin for a good student who wants a unique instrument.
