Description

This lovely old full-size German violin for sale was made in Klingenthal by Johann Georg Schlosser and, like all his instruments, is branded *I*G*S*. He studied under his father, Johann Christian Schlosser, and imitated his style.  This instrument was made in the late 1700’s, probably around 1780.  The Johann Georg Schlosser Violin’s neck is grafted well.  It has pointy corners.  This violin does have some previously repaired top cracks; however, none of the repaired cracks run over the soundpost.  Thus, it is in very solid condition.  This violin has a rich and powerful sound with full overtones and harmonics on both the low and high notes.

Priced at $4700.00, the Schlosser is a beautiful and uncommon instrument for a serious player.
