American 4/4 1887 Jacob T. Sackett Violin

This full size violin for sale was made in 1887 by Jacob T Sackett of Saegertown, Pennsylvania.  Sackett had a shop in the late 1880’s wherein he handmade guns and custom order violins.  This particular Sackett Violin was one of his later violins, as he is believed to have quit making in 1889.  Only 8 violins are still known to be in existence, so this is quite a rare violin.  The wood is nicely carved and arched; the oil has an unusual mottled brown look to it.  The sound of this Sackett violin is moderate; it is neither too bright nor too dark.  It projects nicely.  It has no significant damage.
