German 4/4 1920 Tonk Brothers Antonio Loveri Violin

German 4/4 violin labeled “Antonio Loveri” and imported by the Chicago based Tonk Brothers.  This violin is an exception Loveri both in craftsmanship and condition.

Description

This full size German shop violin for sale was made c. 1920.  The violin was given the trade name “Antonio Loveri” to sound Italian, and it was imported into the United States through the Chicago based Tonk Brothers importers, for whom it was made.  This particular Loveri is a very fine example of the Loveri violin.  It has a good one piece back, a nice golden-brown varnish, and a well carved body.  This instrument has no cracks, repairs, or damages and is in superb condition.  The tone of the Tonk Brothers Loveri Violin is somewhat darker than many German violins, but it is still bold, ringing and powerful so that it projects well.

Priced at $4250.00, this violin is well suited to an advancing high school student who is looking for a lovely and reliable instrument.
