French 1920 4/4 Red JTL Violin – Labeled Mansuy
$7,700.00
French 4/4 violin labeled Mansuy but made by JTL c 1920. Violin has very red varnish and is in excellent condition.
Description
This fine French 1920’s violin for sale bears a label that says only Mansuy. Mansuy was a label that Jérôme Thibouville-Lémy (JTL) occasionally used in his nicer violins made in Mirecourt, FRANCE. There is no known Mansuy from whom JTL stole the name. This violin is a beautiful example of JTL’s best work; the Mansuy is excellently carved with fine wood. The oil varnish is a lovely deep red, and the scroll has beautiful fluting. The tone of this instrument is bright; the Mansuy Violin carries well and has many ringing overtones throughout a range on notes. There have been no serious repairs made to this violin – just one minor repaired top crack on the lower right side.
For $7700.00, this Mansuy would be an excellent choice for an advanced player looking for a fine French violin.
