German 4/4 Strad copy violin made for William Lewis and Son c 1900, numbered 1040.  Violin is in excellent shape and has an exceptionally lovely one-piece back.

Description

This attractive full size violin for sale was made in a German factory for the Chicago based importer, William Lewis & Son.  It was made c 1900 and labeled number 1040.  This violin is a Stradivarius copy, and it is a nicely made instrument.  The scroll is very nicely carved; the back is a beautifully flamed one-piece back with a tight curl.  The varnish is a quite dark brown.  This William Lewis & Son Violin has a rich and moderately bright sound; it projects quite well.  It has only a couple minor top crack repairs and some cosmetic blemishes in the varnish from previous use.

For $3200.00, this William Lewis and Son violin is well suited to an serious and advancing violin student.
