American 4/4 1900 Joseph Bohmann Violin
$3,750.00
American 4/4 violin made by German-Chicagoan Joseph Bohmann. The violin is quite unique with attentive carving and is ready to play.
Description
This full size violin for sale was made by German-American Joseph Bohmann,, an interesting character around the turn of the 20th century. Bohmann moved from Markneukirchen to work in Chicago, where he made instruments, imported instruments, and peeled labels off nice instruments and replaced them with his own. He also boasted about his accolades, as evidenced by his label “the World’s Greatest Musical Instrument”. This particular Bohmann Violin was, in fact, made by Bohmann in 1900. It has his characteristic wood and varnish along with very pointy f-holes. The violin itself has a sweet sound that carries well, and while not “the greatest in the world” the tone is not bad either. This violin has a repaired top crack to the right of the saddle, which is not particularly lovely, but in no way diminishes the sound.
For $3750.00, this violin would sing sweetly for an advanced violinist.
