Description
This full size violin for sale was made in a German shop for the William Chadwick Violin shop in London, circa 1910. It was subsequently imported into the United States by Sears Roebuck and marketed as one of Sears’ nicest violins. This violin is nicely made and pleasant to play. It has an attractive red spirit varnish over fine European spruce and maple. The back is made of a nicely flamed single piece of wood, and the whole instrument is well carved. The Chadwick Violin has a nice sound; it is bold and rings well. It is on the bright side but is not overly bright. The violin has one insignificant repaired top crack as well some varnish dings around the edges from previous rough handling. These dings do not affect the sound.
Priced at $1400.00, this Chadwick violin would be an excellent choice for an advancing violinist.
