This nice 16 inch German viola for sale was made in 1987 for the Chicago based importers William Lewis and Son. It was given the label “Karl Bauer” as a trade name/ model. This particular 16″ Karl Bauer Viola is a particularly fine Karl Bauer model. It is well carved and the wood is nice. The varnish is good. The sound of this viola is big and full; the viola projects well. It is used but in almost new condition; there have been no repairs made to the instrument.
Priced at $2200.00, this viola would be a good option for an advancing violist who is looking for extra sound to make the viola heard.
