French 4/4 1865 Dominique Salzar Branded Factory Violin

This nice, full size violin for sale was factory made in Mirecourt, FRANCE circa 1865.  It was made in the Dominique Salzar workshop and is branded internally in 3 places; it is a very fine example of a D. Salzar Violin.  The violin has a nice dark golden brown varnish which was attractively applied.  The wood is a nice tight grain with a nicely flamed one piece back; the scroll is well carved.  The violin has only a few repaired minor top cracks; there are two repaired shrinkage cracks by the saddle, as well as two repaired f-hole cracks and a repaired crack on the upper left.  The Salzar’s tone is the rich and melodious French tone that every player is looking for; it is not as bright as many of the JTL Mirecourt violins.
